Introducing SmartBODY Fitness Information Center
The NEA Health Information Network has launched SmartBODY, a new fitness and nutrition website. SmartBODY was created in response to rising public health concerns around issues of obesity and related illnesses, especially among American children. NEA HIN felt compelled to promote physical activity and good nutrition—the simplest, and most effective, ways to achieve great health.
SmartBODY is a resource for educators, parents and anyone who’s interested in improving the health of students and school staff. Although statistics and media attention may seem alarmingly negative, SmartBODY is based largely on positive programs and policies from across the country. These evidence our commitment to healthy children and healthy futures. SmartBODY’s discussion forums provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and suggestions. To encourage healthy behaviors throughout the long school day, the website offers a series of physical activity lessons for the classroom teacher. In addition, SmartBODY has an extensive list of useful links related to fitness, nutrition and health.
Thanks to the efforts of educators like you, our public schools are on their way to a healthier future. Visit SmartBODY at http://www.neasmartbody.org to find out how you, too, can help.
