Happy Mothering Day
Promoting the Act of Mothering
Do you work with students who do not have both a natural mother or father? Many children in this country do not.
One group is seeking to change the terminology from "Happy Mother's Day" and "Happy Father's Day" to "Happy Mothering Day" and "Happy Fathering Day"—to recognize the hard work that a parents and guardians do by the mothering and fathering they do, not just by the names they are called. The group is selling cards to recognize the children who do not have both a natural mother and father, and to help raise their self-esteem. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
