NEA HIN Offers Funding for 2007 Indoor Air Quality Training
Association Members and UniServ Staff Can Apply Online through September 25
Through a 2007 Representative Assembly New Business Item (#10) and a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), NEA Health Information Network (NEA HIN) will provide funding to send 12–15 teams of NEA members and UniServ staff (approximately 45 individuals) to the EPA Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools (IAQ TfS) National Symposium and 5th annual NEA HIN Pre-Symposium training, December 5-8, 2007 in Washington, D.C.
NEA HIN will conduct the Pre-Symposium training on December 5 to address IAQ issues from the Association perspective, including how to deal with a difficult or unsupportive administration. The day will be followed by the Symposium, December 6-8, which centers on IAQ TfS, a nationwide initiative to help school officials assess, resolve, and prevent IAQ problems and reduce exposure to asthma triggers in school facilities.
Note:
- Interested teams of Association members and UniServ staff (or other appropriate state Association staff) should submit application packages directly to NEA HIN.
- Complete application packages must be submitted via e-mail on or before Tuesday, September 25 to Jennie Young.
- This is a competitive application process—the submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance to attend.
- The NEA HIN IAQ Symposium Application Review Committee will review applications and select teams based on a set of previously developed criteria.
- Available funding will cover the cost of travel, registration fees, substitute teacher reimbursement, hotel, and meals. For approximate costs (per person) please refer to the Application Guidelines.
If you are interested in applying, go to the NEA-HIN Web site. If you have questions, contact Jennie Young, IAQ in Schools Project Coordinator, at (202) 822-7481 or send an e-mail.
