NEA Supports Our
Troops and House Action
Washington, D.C. – Reg Weaver, president of the National Education Association, made the following statement about the Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students (HEROES) Act of 2003 passed by the U.S. House of Representatives today.
“The brave young men and women serving in the Middle East are making incredible personal sacrifices for this country. They face great anxieties and peril with bravery and dedication, and they deserve our gratitude. NEA supports the HEROES Act as a small way the nation can help our troops, by deferring their college loan payments until they safely return."
