Global Campaign for Education
Free, quality, basic education for every child in the world -- a promise we can keep.
More than 100 million school-age children have never had the chance to attend school. The NEA, together with Education International, is engaged in the Global Campaign for Education. The goal? To increase public awareness and the political will to make education for all a reality.
This promise to provide universal primary education came from the 2000 World Education Forum in Dakar, Senegal, where world leaders made commitments to education and our world's most valuable resource -- children.
The Promise
No countries seriously committed to education for all will be thwarted in their achievement of the [Education For All] goal by a lack of resources was the commitment made by 164 governments in the Dakar Framework for Action. It included the endorsement of the World Bank, which has guided education reform in many developing countries.
