Summer Fun

  • Authentic Persuasive Writing to Promote Summer Reading Devote time in June to promote summer reading by inviting students (grades 9-12) to create brochures and flyers that suggest books and genres to explore during the summer months. Read
  • A Look at Sunspots Students (grades 9-12) will understand how the development of new technology has increased our knowledge of how the sun works. Read

Sports and Fitness

  • Oxygen Cycle In this activity, students (grades K-2) understand and experience the concept that when we exercise our bodies work harder. This makes our hearts beat faster requiring more oxygen that causes us to breathe harder. Read
  • Fitness Obstacle Course In this lesson, students (grades 3-5) are involved in an activity that keeps them moving for an extended length of time, thus working on cardiovascular endurance. Read
  • High Performance: Sports By the end of these lessons, students in grades 6-8 will be able to participate in a group/team activity of their own design in order to work to achieve an overall goal. Read
  • Muscles and Mitochondria In this activity, students learn about the role of mitochondria in a cell's energy production. Recommended for grades 9-12. Read
