NEA HIN Offers Funding
for Indoor Air Quality Training
Through an NEA 2006 RA New Business Item and a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the NEA Health Information Network (NEA HIN) will provide funding to send up to 15 teams of NEA members and UniServ staff (approximately 45 individuals) to the EPA's IAQ TfS National Symposium Dec. 7-9, 2006 and the NEA HIN Pre-Symposium IAQ training on Dec. 6 in Washington, D.C.
NEA HIN's pre-symposium training will address IAQ issues from the union/association perspective, including how to deal with a difficult or unsupportive administration.
This day will be followed by the 7th Annual EPA IAQ TfS Symposium, December 7-9, which centers on IAQ TfS , a nationwide initiative to help school employees and others assess, resolve, and prevent IAQ problems and reduce exposure to asthma triggers in schools.
Please Note:
Interested teams of members and UniServ staff (or other appropriate state association staff) must submit application packages directly to NEA HIN.
The NEA HIN IAQ Symposium Application Review Committee will review applications and select teams based on a set of previously developed criteria.
Available funding will cover the cost of travel, registration fees, substitute teacher reimbursement, hotel and meals. The "Application Guidelines" document on the NEA HIN Web site includes approximate costs, as well as information you will need for completing an application for funding.
Interested members and UniServ staff (or other appropriate State Association staff) can download application packages from the NEA HIN Web site.
If you have any questions, please contact Jennie Young, IAQ in Schools Project Coordinator, at 202-822-7481.
