"We the People" Bookshelf Awards
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has announced the sixth annual We the People Bookshelf, a program that offers sets of classic books to U.S. public and school (K–12) libraries throughout the United States.
Recipients will receive a collection of classics selected to illustrate this year's theme, "Picturing America." The awards are part of NEH's program to strengthen the teaching, study, and understanding of American history and culture.
In return for receiving a Bookshelf, libraries organize programs that highlight the theme and encourage young readers to explore the selected books.
Find information and instructions online at www.neh.gov. Applications must be submitted by January 30, 2009.
