Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
Awards Recognize Students for Exemplary Community Service
Sponsored by Prudential Financial, in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recognizes students in grades 5–12 who have demonstrated exemplary community service.
Schools and officially designated organizations may select one middle level and one high school Local Honoree for every 1,000 students. In February 2009, 102 State Honorees will be selected from the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Each state honoree will receive $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., with one parent or guardian, for the National Recognition events May 2–5, 2009. During that time, 10 National Honorees will be announced. Those 10 will receive an additional $5,000 and a $5,000 grant for a nonprofit charitable organization of their choice.
