Intel Science Talent Search
Seniors Vie for Research Awards & Four-Year Scholarship
Each year Intel conducts its pre-college Science Talent Search (STS), a nationwide competition honoring outstanding young scientists who have completed original research projects. Applicants are judged by a national jury of professional scientists on individual research ability, scientific originality, and creativity.
The competition is open to all U.S. high school seniors. Students are encouraged to start their research early—as early as their freshman year—and to participate in local science and engineering fairs before competing in the Intel STS during their senior year.
Forty finalists will receive $5,000 from the Intel Foundation, a new laptop, an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., an opportunity to meet with government officials, including the president or vice president, and a chance to interact with leading scientists and display their research at the National Academy of Sciences.
The grand prize winner of Intel STS will be awarded a $100,000 four-year scholarship. The second place winner receives $75,000, and the third place winner $50,000. The fourth through sixth place winners each receive $25,000. The seventh through tenth place winners each receive $20,000.
The deadline for entry is 8:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Visit Intel for more information.
