A Message from the President
At a recent meeting, a retired member from Oregon broke down in tears while
recounting how teachers in Portland worked 10 days without pay to keep the district
from cutting the school year short. Though retired, she was saddened by the misplaced
priorities that have caused huge cutbacks in school programs.
